Angela Dorothea Merkel, current Chancellor of Germany, is still no. 1 on Forbes Top 100 Most Powerful Women in the world! After replacing Condoleezza Rice, the 66th United States Secretary of State, from the top spot since 2006, she is constantly the most powerful woman in the world.

Angela Merkel ranked first since 2006 until now. She is a member of the Council of Women World Leaders, an International network of current and former women presidents and prime ministers whose mission is to mobilize the highest-level women leaders globally for collective action on issues of critical importance to women and equitable development.

In 2008 Merkel received the Charlemagne Prize “for her work to reform the European Union”. The prize was presented by Nicolas Sarkozy.

Forbes Magazine’s List of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women is edited by editor Liz MacDonald and staff writer Chana R. Schoenberger, and based on visibility and economic impact.
