The Oklahoma Sooners will meet the Stanford Cardinal for the 2009 Brut Sun Bowl live in El Paso, Texas. The game, which was first played in 1935, is set to kickoff at 2:00pm ET at the Sun Bowl.

The Brut Sun bowl, Oklahoma vs Stanford live stream will be available on CBS.

Oklahoma most certainly did not expect to find itself in the Sun Bowl when the season kicked off in early September, but given the way things went for the Sooners this year, they are, no doubt, happy to be playing postseason football, period.

Oklahoma managed just a 7-5 record without Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Sam Bradford running the show, its worst tally since Bob Stoops’ first season in Norman. However, the Sooners did win four of their last six games, including a 27-0 blowout of No. 21 Oklahoma State in the regular season finale.

And this year will mark Oklahoma’s 11th consecutive Bowl appearance, but its first in the Sun Bowl since beating Texas Tech 41-10 in the 1993 game. The Sooners, which are 4-6 under Stoops in postseason action, have lost their last three bowl games.

Stanford put together its best season since 2001, going 8-4 overall and 6-3 in Pac-10 play. The Cardinal finished third in the conference standings behind Oregon and Arizona. Jim Harbaugh’s squad played excellent football over the last month, winning four of its last five games with victories against Arizona State, Oregon, USC, and Notre Dame.

The Cardinal, which are led by this year’s Heisman runner-up, running back Toby Gerhart, have not played in a bowl since the 2001 Seattle Bowl, which they lost 14-24 to Georgia Tech.
