Egg Recall List Expands – The egg recall we published yesterday had now expanded to cover more brands and more states in the US.

The egg recall started as traces of salmonella contamination were found on eggs produced and distributed by Wright County Eggs Company. Wright Country Egg company is one of the largest producers and wholesalers of eggs and distributes to the well known egg brands in the United States. The salmonella strain found in their eggs was the Samonella Entereditis.

According to CBS News, the following brands are now affected by the recall and is included in the egg recall list: Albertson, Boomsma’s, Dutch Farms, Farm Fresh, Hillandale, Kemps, Lucerne, Lund, Mountain Dairy, Ralph’s, Shoreland, Sunshine, and Trafficanda.

Not all eggs from Wright Country Eggs company are affected because the recall only covers those with Julian dates ranging from 136 to 225 and plant numbers 1026, 1413 and 1946.

For those who don’t know how to locate these indentifying marks on the egg cartons just look for it at the end of the egg carton. The plant number begins with the letter P and then the number. The Julian date follows the plant number.

Wright County Eggs Company already issued a statement regarding the egg recall and here is their official statement and advise to consumer’s whose eggs are on the egg recall list. In this statement they advise affected consumers to return the eggs to the store where they purchased them and get a refund.
