FedExCup 2010: The Barclays Golf Tournament, Final Round – Everyone thought it would be Martin Laird but something surprising happened and Laird was defeated at The Barclays Golf Tournament 2010. Matt Kuchar shot a final-round 66 then defeated Martin Laird on the first playoff hole Sunday at The Barclays.

This winning earned Kuchars $1.3Million purse and gained the number 1 ranking in the FedEx Cup, he might also advance to the top 10 in the World Golf Rankings.

The Barclays Golf Tournament 2010 is Kuchar’s first victory of the year and came two weeks after he made his first Ryder Cup team. This is also his third career win.

Martin Laird fell short of his performance during the Playoff. Laird tied with Kuchar when he had a 20-foot eagle putt on the par-5 17th, only to roll it nearly 8 feet beyond the hole. He made that birdie putt to take the lead, then repeated his mistake on the final hole in regulation. Then it was history, Kuchar made great shots and there was no stopping him.

Tiger Woods also had a good performance, finishing T12 at 7 under par 277. This assured him of advancing to the next round of the FedEx Cup in Boston. Woods started at rank 112 and he advance to number 65 after his good performance at the Barclays Golf Tournament 2010.
