Germany vs Spain World Cup Semifinals – Spain stuns the German team and perhaps the whole world when Spain’s Carles Puyol made the winning goal in the 72nd minute during their semifinals match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban.
Close to 61,000 fans witnessed the upset, as well as thousands and thousands of German fans. In one instance Spanish football fans try to burn a German flag, that goes to show how passionate football fans are. In the end however, you can see the frustration of all the German fans. Their faces crumbled and their tears fell.
“We’ve shown that in the big moments we can grow even more,” striker David Villa said.
Indeed they have, Puyol came at a time when Spain needed someone to rescue them and ensure a semifinals victory. Torres and Villa was not there this time and then Puyol came in,
“What can I say?” Germany coach Joachim Loew said. “Spain is a wonderful team with players from Barcelona and Real Madrid. Look at how Barcelona plays. They can hardly be beaten. Spain was better and they deserve to win. We were not good enough tonight.”
The semifinals game today will be a benchmark on what will happen on the finals on July 11 at Soccer City in Johannesburg. Two teams who are even in their matches and facing one another in the World Cup finals for the first time will square off for victory. Who will triumph?
We thought it would be Black vs Orange but now it seems to be Red vs Orange, an interesting color combination.
Congratulations to Spain and better luck next time for the Germans!
