Year 1990 when the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) was blasted off from the Space Shuttle Discovery. It was named after the American astronomer Edwin Hubble. It is one of NASA’s great observatories which has contributed awesome discoveries and amazing photos from the outer space.

On its 20th birthday,NASA has released their birthday photo. The photo is called “Pillar & Jets” and shows a small portion of one of the largest known star-birth areas of the galaxy, the Carina Nebula. Hubble is the only telescope ever designed to be serviced in space by astronauts. It is expected to function at least until 2014.

HST has contributed much to the researches of today’s scientists. It continues to discover the beauty of the outer space and slowly unveils its vague mystery.
