It could have been an upset for Argentina if Nigeria played more power on their offence. Argentina managed to defeat Nigeria in the second match for Group B, 1-0. Heinze’s 6th minute goal was all Argentina could muster as the Nigerian goal keeper turned out to be very formidable and skillful.

The Nigerian team became all pumped up in the second half as they tried to equalize the goal with six to seven shot at the goal but nothing of those converted into a score. Nigeria’s height advantage did not even become a factor for Argentina to beat them and take home their first win in the World Cup 2010.

The main man Argentina should be thankful is their forward, Lionel Messi. If there is a word that could be given to them, NIgerian’s would call him, “the tormentor” or “pain in the …” Another Argentina asset Gonzalo Higuain failed to convert his chances at the goal including a supposed to be clear goal on the 4th minute.

Nigeria has to learn something from this game so that they can better prepare for their next two games. Their next match will be against Greece on June 17, Greece also came from a 2-0 lose against South Korea. Nigeria’s last preliminary game will be against South Korea on June 22.

Vincent Enyeama, the Nigerian Goal keeper said that what happened during the game was enough to encourage them that they could take home a win and at least hope at a shot at the World Cup. “We’re not going to kill ourselves. We have two more games to play.” said Enyeama.
