Rally to Support Americans Want to Work Act for 99ers and Tier 5 – A huge rally in Washington DC is being planned to support the American Wants to Work Act which contains the provision for the Tier 5 extension for 99ers.

The rally which is led by One Nation Working Together will be a way to show Congress that the people are united for job creation. Though there are bills already passed the rally will push for a full support for the American Wants to Work Act.

The rally will be called “One Nation March” and will “feature human and civil rights leaders, labor leaders, environmental and peace activists, faith leaders, celebrities and sports figures – all marching together to help Put America Back to Work and to Pull America Back Together,” says One Nation Working Together (ONWT).

The One Nation March will be on October 2, 2010 and begins at 12:00 pm and end at 4:00 pm. The event site will open for guests at 6:00 am, and pre-program will kick off at 11 am. The venue will be at the Lincoln Memorial.

The event is open to the public and there will be no tickets or pre-registration however all buses traveling to the event are required to register with March organizers.

  1. RBINTN says:

I will not attend the rally. The House is adjourning on October 1st, and is considering adjourning today. By October 2nd, it will be too late for 99ers, and maybe too late for legislators who will need their vote. Any rally scheduled after 10/1, therefore, is pointless.

  2. Arline In Ct. says:

    Hi there
I am a 99er in Meriden Ct. I have been looking for a job for almost 2 years now.been getting alot of sorrys Well i am sorry too.I have lost my benfits about to lose my home that I have work for years I would love to attend washington but I can’t afford to get there but my susport is with you to pass Americans want to work.

  3. Proud to be America says:

BRAVO!!! I wish I could attend!!

  4. John Q 99 says:

Hi BBINTN, Your absolutely right about the House adjourning prior to this event. But I think the strategy here is to get as much media coverage as possible with what will hopefully be a strong show of numbers attending. Good luck to us all….

  5. Doug Klingenberg says:

Rallies are never pointless as they show potential voter base (and these j-asses are still elected officials despite the perversion in politics due to big money)… If we lay down and play dead they will continue to walk right over us!!!!!

  6. marie says:

    I’m in LA, so I can’t attend.
But please let me know if you need any other support and I’m there. Keep me informed!Keep it safe and organized like BECK did…That’ll say more than words…cause I’m sure you’ll have the numbers.

  7. Nicole Masse says:

I think that is why they are going to adjorn early as they don’t want to be there for this rally. We need people to come no matter what and stand up for what we believe in. If you dont’ go you are just one more person who has given up. We need to stand up for one another, because our government sure as hell isn’t. I have been out of work for 2 years. I have been out of benefits since March, I am on the last 2000.00 of my savings and I am a single mom. I am scared and I have worked all my life for this American Dream? What has happened! I can’t believe that we are allowing this to happen. For all of the people who think that voting the opposite of the party you voted for when Obama was elected, just remember both parties have made this what it is today, a crying shame. They are all going on recess while we sit unemployed, out of our houses, in the streets and they still enjoy the fruits of all of our LABOR! I suggest Congress goes on unemployment for 2 years and lose their benefits take the max amount in their states and then maybe they will see how terrible it is. Maybe for the Senators that are worried about how another Tier will be paid for, well it can be paid for by their wage and benefit decreases. I am so disappointed in my Government.

  8. Tamara says:

I am so disappointed in our system, too. They don’t blink an eye at giving millions of dollars to foreign countries.. yet when it comes to their own, they show their true colors…CRUEL AND INHUMANE! They will reap what they sow.

  9. Diane says:

Why don’t we surpise them and have the march earlier….I am sure we can get enough people to attend…

  10. […] Better late than never, One Nation Working Together is planning a huge rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington on October 2, Saturday to raise the awareness of lawmakers and also ask for the passage of the American Wants to Work Act. The question on that day however is whether the lawmakers are still in session or not. Most probably these lawmakers will avoid the rally and adjourn early. For information about the rally you can check it out HERE. […]
