Ramadan 2010: Taraveeh/Taraweeh Prayers Night 11 – The Ramadan 2010 for the Muslim world continues today as they enter Day 10 of the worldwide Muslim annual fasting.

Ramadan is the ninth month in Arabian culture long before the arrival of Islam. The word itself is derived from an Arabic root rm?, as in words like “rami?a” or “ar-rama?” denoting intense heat, scorched ground and shortness of rations.

According to the Qur’an, the Muslim Holy Book God proclaims that “fasting has been written down (as obligatory) upon you, as it was upon those before you”. According to the earliest hadith, this refers to the Jewish practice of fasting on Yom Kippur.

During Ramadan Muslims are supposed to give greater dedication and more prayers to Allah and the Taraveeh prayer is one of the prayer that specifically points to Ramadan.

Taraveeh Prayers or Taraweeh Prayers are only recited during the month of Ramadan and there are specific prayers for each night. Here is the Taraveeh/Taraweeh Prayers for Nigh 11 which should be recited at around 9:30pm local time.

The first four Rakats is led by Sheikh Adil Kalbani.
