After the last two choices, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro, the latter emerged as the winning city to host the 2016 Summer Olympics. Everybody clapped, shouted, and was in awe after the final announcement was made by the International Olympics Committee during the 121st Session in Copenhagen last October 2, 2009.

The XXXI Olympiad in 2016 will be hosted by Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This is the first Olympic Games to be hosted in South Africa. The people of Brazil are really proud and can’t wait for 2016.

Once again, congratulations to Rio de Janeiro for winning the bid for the 2016 Olympics host city.
