The youngest of the casualties in the Love Parade was 20 years old and the oldest was 40. Pope Benedict XVI can’t believe what happened to the parade and was very emotional. The Pope was from Germany and he says that this tragedy saddens him and will pray for everyone involved.

“This was a very, very dreadful and sad day,” Ms Merkel said. “We must do everything we can to ensure that something like this never happens again,” says Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The Love Parade is a famous techno music event was started in 1989 as a peace demonstration. In the following years however it became a huge outdoor celebration of club culture that drew about 1.5 million people at its peak in 1999. However, in later years the crowd dwindled down but it still has more than several thousand people participating.

After this event organizers and country officials said that the Love Parade will never be organized again. They say that the decision was reached in order to prevent any future tragedy from the Love Parade.
