Unemployment Extension Tier 5 July 15, 2010 Update 2 – The US Senate which had resumed session this week after a brief recess continued to deny the unemployed with an Unemployment Extension Bill. Even a “Tier 5” extension was not included in the two bills being debated in the senate.
The US Senate leadership headed by Sen. Harry Reid will continue to push through with the passage of an extended unemployment benefits this week despite strong opposition from Senate republicans.
The legislators also clarified that the most recent version of the legislation does not include a COBRA health insurance subsidy or Tier 5 unemployment extension that would provide additional weeks of unemployment for the 99ers. 99ers is a term used for unemployed workers who have exhausted all unemployment benefits.
